TSMC's July-to-September Sales Came to NT$1.494 Trillion, About 2% Above the Top of Its Own Guidance — and Its US Shares Fell 3.0% the Day It Reported

On Thursday, Oct 8, 2026, TSMC reported September revenue of NT$511.86 billion, down 0.6% from August and up 54.6% from a year earlier, in a filing with the SEC. Added to July's NT$467.58 billion and August's NT$514.81 billion from its earlier monthly reports, that puts July-to-September sales at NT$1.494 trillion, up 51% on the NT$989.92 billion of the same quarter in 2025. In July TSMC guided third-quarter revenue of US$44.6 billion to US$45.8 billion at an assumed 32 Taiwan dollars to the US dollar, or NT$1.427 trillion to NT$1.466 trillion; the quarter came in about NT$28.6 billion, or 2%, above the top. The beat holds at TSMC's own exchange-rate assumption only, since it guides in US dollars. The same day its US-listed shares fell 3.0%, from $472.20 to $457.99, and the iShares Semiconductor ETF fell 3.4%, as a report that OpenAI's annualized revenue was about $20 billion below earlier estimates hit chip stocks. Margins and the US-dollar figure come with full results on Oct 15.
