US Chip Stocks Erased About $2 Trillion in 8 Straight Down Days — the Longest Streak Since 2008
The main US chip-stock index fell for an eighth straight session through Friday 16 Oct 2026. Yahoo Finance put the market value erased in this selloff at about $2 trillion, and Bloomberg, Barron's and MarketWatch call it the longest losing streak since 2008. Reuters on 15 Oct said the group was set to lose $2 trillion after $1.64 trillion over the prior six sessions, so the card says about $2 trillion rather than one post-close market-cap print of all eight sessions. Investor's Business Daily dates a previous eight-session decline to October 2018; the Nasdaq series shows that 2018 run as six down days, and the card follows the 2008 majority.
