TrendForce expects AI agents to change how servers are built, moving from the traditional one CPU for every eight GPUs or ASICs toward 1:2 or even 1:1, which it forecasts will push server CPU shipments up more than 40% in 2027, after 31% growth in 2026
TrendForce, a market research firm, projects that server CPU shipments will increase by 31% year-over-year in 2026 and by over 40% in 2027. This growth is attributed to the rising adoption of AI agent applications and AI inference demand. The firm notes that the emergence of AI agents is expected to change the CPU-to-GPU/ASIC ratio in servers from 1:8 to 1:2 or even 1:1.
