SpaceX Says It Closed $40B of Debt, Just for GPUs
On 25 Oct 2026 Elon Musk wrote on X that "SpaceX closed $40B of debt for GPUs", which he said was "primarily callable debt for GPU purchases that will arrive in Q1 and Q2", and that debt markets "have almost entirely shut off access to money for any company that doesn't have substantial revenue independent of AI data centers." Reuters said it was not immediately clear what "closed" meant or whether investors had agreed to pricing; CFO Bret Johnsen guided Q4 capital expenditure to $35B–$40B. Two days earlier Bloomberg reported that the $40B deal, to fund Nvidia chips through an off-balance-sheet vehicle, had hit hurdles amid credit-market volatility.
