OpenAI Told Investors Its Annualized Revenue Was About $50 Billion, Roughly $20 Billion Below Earlier Reports — the Same Day Nvidia, Broadcom, AMD and Oracle Lost About $311 Billion of Market Value

On Thursday, Oct 8, 2026, the Financial Times reported, and CNBC confirmed, that OpenAI told investors in a presentation that its annualized revenue was about $50 billion at the end of September, roughly $20 billion below the $68 billion to $70 billion widely reported weeks earlier; The Information reported the same figure. CNBC's source said the higher figure included gross revenue from OpenAI's cloud partners, which OpenAI does not count as its own revenue; Anthropic does count sales through its cloud partners. OpenAI also cited 77% growth in its total run rate during the third quarter and 107% in its enterprise business. The same day, Nvidia fell 2.9% to $230.48, Broadcom 4.3% to $360.14, AMD 3.9% to $620.68 and Oracle 5.5% to $135.69, together about $311 billion of market value at their latest reported share counts; CoreWeave fell 7.8% and the Nasdaq Composite 1.25%, its worst day since mid-August. Oil prices and Treasury yields also rose on Thursday, so the card names three drivers and attributes the moves to none of them.
