Nvidia Closed at a Record $239.03 on Oct 5, Its First Record Close Since May 14 — 144 Days, $5.76 Trillion, About $10 a Share Short of $6 Trillion, With No Nvidia News and the 10-Year at a 24-Year High

Nvidia closed at $239.03 on Monday, Oct 5, 2026, a record close above the $235.74 of May 14 and its first record close in 144 days, after an intraday high of $240.09. Friday's intraday record of $237.88 had faded to a $233.95 close; Monday's held. On 24.1 billion shares (10-Q, as of Aug 21) the close values Nvidia at about $5.76 trillion; $6 trillion corresponds to $248.96 a share, about $10 away, and CNBC reported options traders pricing that milestone by the end of October. The stock is up 28% in 2026 from $186.50 at the end of 2025. There was no Nvidia-specific news on the day; the drivers on the record were the ISM services index (54.9, with its prices gauge at 74), a chip rally on talks between TSMC and Elon Musk's Terafab project, gains in Meta and Microsoft, and Morgan Stanley restoring Nvidia as its top semiconductor pick on Friday. The same session the 10-year Treasury yield touched 5.35%, its highest since 2002, so the record came with the discount rate at a 24-year high. The card names the drivers and attributes the record to none of them.
