KOSPI Fell 6.02% and Hit a Circuit Breaker
On Friday 6 November 2026 (KST), South Korea's KOSPI closed at 5,059.69, down 6.02% (324.11 points), after an intraday low of 4,911.28, down 8.78% — the first print below 5,000 since 6 February — and a first-stage circuit breaker near the open (about 09:03 KST, roughly 20 minutes) plus a sell-side sidecar (about 09:34 KST). SK hynix closed −10.44% at ₩1.132 million (intraday low ₩1.089 million). Samsung Electronics closed −6.35% at ₩188,700. The Kosdaq closed −5.03% at 644.27, with a sell sidecar about 09:06 KST. Korea Herald and Korea Times tie the slide to fears of tighter U.S. AI data-center rules after the midterms and the overnight Wall Street AI/chip selloff; analysts quoted in the local press said some of those regulation fears looked overdone. That is attributed commentary, not a proven cause.
